Demolition works contractor (North Brabant)

You are scheduled for an industrial demolition job. On site, in consultation with the work planner, you determine the most effective and efficient approach. You work this out together with the work planner in a work plan and a safety plan. You divide the work between people and machines, draw up and monitor the project plan. If work permits are required for the project, you are the one who arranges them. And you are the contact person for the client.

You are there first in the morning and prepare for the day. You ensure that everyone knows what to do, coordinate the work and carry out work yourself where necessary. You also ensure that all materials received are processed and disposed of according to the guidelines. You also monitor strict compliance with safety regulations, both by your colleagues and by suppliers and subcontractor employees. You give instructions and hold toolbox meetings. You anticipate potentially dangerous situations and keep all employees alert by regularly pointing out the risks of the work. You ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the assignment and are therefore fully aware of this.

In addition, you keep track of the hours of people and machines and send the project administration to the office once a week. You also carry out all checks and inspections in the work plan.

“Ik ben vanaf het allereerste begin bij een project betrokken. We bekijken wat er precies moet gebeuren en bespreken de aanpak. In overleg met de planning en de projectleiding stel ik dan het werkplan op en inventariseren we wie wat gaat doen. Als dat staat, breng ik dat over op de jongens en gaan we van start. Ik stuur aan en coördineer, maar ik steek uiteraard zelf ook de handen uit de mouwen. En ik ben degene die dagelijks contact heeft met de opdrachtgever.

Ik werk nu negentien jaar bij DDM. Op dit moment ben ik bezig met een industriële sloopklus bij een Duits chemiebedrijf. Rondom óns werk gaat hún werk gewoon door. Ik hou van dat soort uitdagingen, waarbij de allerhoogste veiligheidseisen gelden. Hoe complexer hoe beter, wij zijn daar nu eenmaal goed in. En dat laten we graag aan onze opdrachtgevers zien.
We hebben een sterk team, met een goeie energie. Alleen het beste eindresultaat is goed genoeg. Ook onze communicatie is daarop gericht, we bespreken alles. Over het werk natuurlijk, maar ook over persoonlijke zaken. Hoe beter we op elkaar ingespeeld zijn, des te beter het is voor ons werk. En des te efficiënter. Want op de kosten letten is óók onze taak. Ik heb alle vertrouwen in de toekomst. Slopen, demonteren en recyclen wordt op steeds grotere schaal gedaan. Da’s mooi, dan kan ik hier nog lang blijven werken.”

“In de negentien jaar dat ik bij DDM werk, heb ik heel wat projecten gedaan. En eigenlijk allemaal even bijzonder. Twee keer heb ik meegewerkt aan de sloop van een booreiland. Je werk doen op zee, met een kraan op een boot, dat geeft echt een enorme kick. Maar eerlijk gezegd, als je in twee weken tijd acht grote ovens moet ontmantelen zoals we gedaan hebben in Gelsenkirchen, dan geeft dat net zo’n kick.”
