After a long standstill, DDM has been commissioned to remove 5 boilers and 2 chimneys from the site of a power station in east London.
The 5 boilers are 35 meters high; 20 meters wide and 25 meters long. The 2 chimneys are 55 meters high. The input that DDM uses for this is a crane with a capacity of 160 tons. We need this to lift the high-pressure vessels that are located at a height of 20 meters. The high-pressure vessels weigh more than 40 tons.
DDM also has 2x 50-ton machines, one of which has a long arm of 28 meters. These are necessary to be able to remove the pipework and air duct at a certain height. The large and heavy parts will be lifted off and then reduced to smaller sizes on the ground for transport to the scrap processor.
In the coming weeks, the air duct including the structure will be removed so that the boilers are freed up so that we can also work on the machines there. DDM is moving forward at full speed and with the positive attitude of the DDM team, this project will also be brought to a positive conclusion.
