The Vianen Boogbrug combination, consisting of KWS, Ves (Volkerrail Engineering Services) and DDM Demontage, has removed the old Boogbrug over the leak at Vianen on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat.
After the arch bridge had been sailed out and the arch had been lowered in the Beatrix lock, the arch bridge was transported on the pontoon to the demolition location in Schiedam. Upon arrival in Schiedam, the arch bridge of the pontoon had to be placed on the quay so that it could be further dismantled into recyclable pieces. How does this process work?
DDM divided the bridge on the pontoon into three parts, so that the bridge parts of the pontoon could be driven onto the work site using SPMTs (Self-propelled Modular Transporter). From various aerial platforms, the bridge is cut into hoistable pieces at height with the cutting torch. Large parts were then lifted off using the DDM wire crane for further reduction on the specially equipped work floor. Once on the ground, the steel arch parts are cut to size with the cutting torch for recycling.
DDM's disassembly specialists are extremely focused on the work and are committed to 100 percent. They do this at the construction site in Vianen where the southern bridge is being demolished and at the demolition site in Schiedam. As a collective, we work hard to ensure that the set goals are achieved in a responsible and safe manner.
